Well, for a moment, I was fooled into thinking that Abraham Lincoln abolished slavery. Okay, so he did, eh? What am I drivng at, you wonder?
Well, I'm a slave, a slave to technology. For 4 months, I had been in denial: I do not need internet access at home. Now that school is closed for the Christmas break, since the 22nd actually, I found myself in a fix - where can I check my emails?
What are my options? There's Pacific Coffee that offers free internet access to its customers for 15 minutes. There are also internet stations at certain MTR stations and shopping malls at not more than 30 minutes each. Then, there's also the public library that offers free internet access for 2 hours.
I would say that Pacific Coffee's great because I get better inspiration when immensed in the aroma of freshly brewed coffee. I've also tried standing internet stations at shopping malls although I kept looking back to see if someone's peering over my shoulders, sorry, paranoia. The computer room at the public library is pretty good too, considering that there's absolute silence except for the sound of furiously typing on the keyboard by the other 19 users in the same room and it offers 2 hours of free internet access! Besides, the nearest public library is a mere 5-minute walk from my house.
But I think I'm getting internet connection at home afterall.
