Of tin cans and sticky flags...

By the time I smiled no to the 3rd tin can this afternoon, I couldn't help but wonder. Do charities really need these weekly flag day fundraisers or is this conveniently something our policymakers come up with for our students to clock in their mandatory CIP (acronym for Community Involvement Programme) hours?

For the former, I can't help but be reminded of the infamous 2005 NKF saga, and more recently, the Renci episode. That, and the fact that the public's trust in charity drives undeniably hobbled by their impeachments.

As for the latter, sadly, I can only be cynical. How many students actually understand and totally embrace, if I may add, the ideologies behind the CIP? It was supposed to be a good thing, but have since been warped into nothing but a chore.
