"It's hard to find people who will love you no matter what..." and so Carrie concluded in Season 3 of Sex and the City after Aidan broke up with her for her infidelity. Evidently, this statement stayed in my mind for a really long time. After all, it had been ages since I'd watched the episode.
As I pondered over the issue of love, unconditional love, I found myself wondering if there is anyone capable of giving another such love. The dictionary defines the word unconditional as absolute or without limitations and the word love as a profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person. I know I can't, simply because I'm human and being human, biased. But I know of someone who can (and willing) and can inspire us to do the same.
"Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love; not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another." (1 John 4:7-11)
At the end of the day, I may still not be capable of unconditional love but I know that God can.
