The reality of communication

As I found myself fretting over today's class, trying to figure out what's with the material, mental and relational processes and wondering aloud why I even have to know them, my question was answered in the most peculiar way, which is ironically closest to my heart.

After receiving the tenth 'nah', I decided to give my penny's worth on how offensive the response actually was. And then came this message: "Ok...no time for that now...I wanna go home...Hahaha." And I honestly thought it literally meant "Ok...I'm going off now." And so, I kept my peace and bade farewell only to discover that I'd misinterpreted the meaning.

And I couldn't help but think if language were the function in which our experiences of the world were encoded, and hence, a constructed picture of reality, it's probably no wonder why people misunderstand each other.
