One has to keep left while on the escalator in Singapore; and right in Hong Kong. Of course, on a more personal note, there was a slight confusion for the past 2 weeks because I kept standing at the wrong side. What was appalling was the fact that some Singaporeans also kept to the right while on the escalator. Of course, I have no qualms excusing myself, particularly when I'm in a hurry all the time (well, thanks to my perpetual tardiness...) and people actually were irritated when I asked to pass through (WTH?!).
Right of way? Seems to me that we're always at the wrong side...
