Count on me, Singapore

Looking at the skyline of the city from the roof terrace, I can only imagine the fireworks above Singapore River at 8pm (local time) later; the great bursts of colourful fireworks against the backdrop of The Esplanade (if you're looking from Raffles Boulevard) or Raffles Place (from Marina Boulevard).

The doubt of a temporary feeling of nationalism only because it's the nation's birthday today no longer in question, I am positive I am a stayer now, albeit a stray thought of migrating when I was younger. That, and my global footprints in the last few years are not representative of my attachment to the place I was born and bred.

And although short of flying a Singapore flag outside my window, I'm dressed in red today. Coincidence? Maybe...but like Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz, there's really no place like home...
