Jo's Hullabaloo

Maybe it's just me but I sure am peeved (well, most of the time anyway) when the house phone rings. And the reason's simple. Not only are the calls never meant for me, the callers never fail to ask, in my opinion, an inane question:

"Hello? Who are you?"

Hello? What kind of a question is that? You called my house to ask who I am (before asking for my mum - the one you're really looking for)? Whatever happened to "Hello. I'm X. Is your mum home?"? Not only is the whole behaviour absurdly Mickey Mouse, it's totally weird. And it just drives me nuts...

PS: Oh, did I fail to mention the house phone rings like the CD siren on Total Defence Day? I secretly suspect it can wake up even those who are six foot underground!

PPS: And they've been doing this for years!
