Quite the Unexpected

What happens when your routine is in reversal order with the universe? For me, I'd pretty much learned it through "I can't...". Let me count: a Hen's party on the 11th, a wedding on the 20th and a birthday party today - all of which I would otherwise love to attend, but can't.

You see, way before the end of my sabbatical year (dated July 2008), I found myself refuting all facts on being a slacker (a term I hated because of its derogatory connotation) and I landed myself a job! Not quite your regular 9-to-5, I teach writing in District 10 on weekend afternoons to [whom friends label] the atas kids and whom I've discovered to be quite different from our regular kampong ones. Yes, most of them may be brighter, but some are also a little more obnoxious, narcissistic, and I-centric. But why am I surprised?

Anyway, truth be told, I totally enjoy my work although I kept asking myself why in heavens did I get myself a job before the year is up. One more thing - I never saw it coming, but incidentally, there seems to be a gap between me and the Gen-Y-ers sometimes. By golly, does this mean I'm getting obsolete? But I'm not even 30 yet!

And experience has it, I promise myself never to stay out late on Saturday nights anymore.
