A pensive adagio

Just like words, the rain gets to me too. In the same way, it awakens the other side of me - melancholy.

And it rained this morning. And it was strange for this is, afterall, the month of sweltering July. But it feels like November. And suddenly, I miss the heat.

The same way the weather has gone cranky today, I felt a surprising attachment to my neighbourhood: The uncomprehensible Hokkien songs that would blast from the shophouses, the aunties with their marketing trolleys in the morning and how they'll push you aside at the bus stop just to get on the empty bus two steps before you, the uncle at the coffee shop screaming at the top of his voice "kopi siu dai"...

And I was thinking - between Subway and bak chor mee, I think I would still prefer the latter.
