And as Lily tried to grasp an understanding of the haunting past, August reminded her that there is no perfect love...

But I still can't figure out what exactly the movie has gotta do with bees (Well, I reckon it's not named The Secret Life of Bees for nothing, right?), though it was the honey produced by August Boatwright that led Lily Owens to Tiburon, South Carolina.

And perhaps too, at one point or another, one does have to go on a journey to quench the undeniable desire for a sense of belonging. Something I know all too well...

PS: Kris World is simply awesome; this movie is only screening in Sydney next month. (^_^)

Definitely, maybe

And it didn't seem half as bad to have to put myself on voluntary me-time quarantine as I paid S$7.50 for my movie ticket (I have no idea it's this pricey even on a weekday morning!); I had the whole theatre to myself, well almost, until a couple came in just before the show began.

Definitely, maybe (and no, this is not a movie review) got me thinking: Love has never been easy, and with people so different from each other - the way they think, the way they react, the things they believed in - simply makes it harder, and complex too, with twists of fate in life's picture. It's almost like a game, sort of - you'll crash but you'll survive, even if it meant not having it all.

So belief has it that it's not the person but the time (read: if the time is right, the person will be right). So what happens if the moment passes you by and then, you realise it's her all along? But it's too late because the person and the time have gone by. And perhaps too, it's enough to know that it is love when all we want is that person to be happy, even if we're not part of their happiness.

And at the end of the day, it's comforting to know that sometimes, we do get a second chance, even if it takes 14 years...

PS: Definitely something worth watching.

Stupidly brave?

And it's kinda funny coz that's exactly what I thought about Mumble aka Happy Feet too, when he set out to find out who the aliens were and why their fish supply was depleting.

Perhaps, to us, it is something like this,"If I go, I may not find the answer, but if I don't, I'll always be wondering 'what if'?"

Toast to Change

Freedom Writers. Have you watched it? I did. 3 things etched in my mind: 1. Racial Harmony, 2. Communication, and 3. You can't have it all.

1. RH is something, I believe, most of us take for granted. As a former Humanities teacher, I know the effort the Humanitiies team in every school put in to make RH relevant and its importance poignant. Social stability, peace, racial harmony, cultural tolerance...whatever, and it takes hard work to achieve something like this, so never ever let us lose that, especially now, where the threat of terrorism is widely propagated against (a certain) religious extremist group. To me, that's segregation and pulling us wider apart from achieving something that's so important in the world today. I don't think we need to relive the horrors of the Holocaust again, do we?

2. How does one know what you're thinking or feeling if you don't communicate with him/ her? For the longest time, I'd had this warped notion that if you know me well enough, you would know what I'm thinking about. Well, that's just so not true. Now, I know very well the importance of communication because if communication breaks down, you will lose that connection, forever. Of course, I didn't have to watch this movie to know how important communication is. I just want to remind you in case you get bogged down with the nitty-gritties of everyday life that you forget about this.

3. Yeah, one just can't have it all. Erin Gruwell wanted so much to help her students, and made certain choices in her life and these choices changed her life, well, sort of (her husband left her). Of course, sometimes, certain choices we make in life will cause other things in the chain to become different and in turn, people in our lives make their choices according to the choices that we made earlier and then, everything becomes different. Sometimes, we may not even expect such changes or even want them, but it's something we must have the courage to accept, no matter how long it's gonna take.

Spongebob Squarepants

So, do they have a clandestine relationship or not? Is it really true that Spongebob and best friend Patrick are gay partners?

Why am I asking such an obscure question? Well, I watched the movie on my laptop yesterday and there were hints of, erm...you know...queer things. Ahhh...I know! Closets...

Well, fyi, I'm neither homophobic nor perturbed by the idea. I'm just curious. So, does anyone know the truth?
